I want to share a short piece of writing about a child with Down Syndrome whom I have taught.
Here is my experience with a lively and mischievous child who is struggling to form sentences, though his speech remains unclear. He taught me to see the world from a different perspective.
In his eyes, a mischievous shine,
His laughter like a pearl shine,
Naughtiness dances in every step,
In his world, there's no time to worry.
Impulsively grabbing for all he sees,
Exploring the world with eager ease,
His heart so full of pure delight,
A power bank of energy, a heart so light.
His cuteness shines in every smile,
Innocence untouched by worldly guile,
He embraces life with open arms,
Spreading joy with his endless charms.
Yet sometimes words may not come through,
Expressing himself, a challenge to pursue,
But in his eyes, the truth is clear,
Love and connection always near.
His laughter is like music, sweet and true,
His spirit resilient, shining through,
He teaches us to see the world in a different way,
And remind us to cherish each day.
So, let's celebrate his spirit, so full of grace,
Embracing his journey, finding joy in every trace,
Though the road may be challenging at times,
He inspires us with courage and strength that shines.
In his presence we find love so true and wild,
A beautiful soul, a precious Down Syndrome child.
